He may have come out of the shadows for us to put a face to the voice, but that certainly hasn’t stopped Canadian crooner The Weeknd from consistently putting out highly artistic and creative music videos to give us a testy tremblin’ in anticipation of his next album Kiss Land, due out August 27th, 2013.
And Belong To The World – the new single off Kiss Land – is absolutely no exception, with some obvious Blade Runner nods and references riddling the video, and – in classic eclectic Weeknd fashion – a sampling of Portishead‘s You Belong To The World.
Always one for stories of self-destruction, here The Weeknd embraces a somewhat altruistically-driven acceptance of being unable to tame and domesticate a Gaia-like figure who has changed him … a topic somewhat uncommon in – though not entirely absent from – the genre.
