One of the biggest names in entertainment and undoubtedly one of Hip Hop’s Greatest of All Time, Marshall Eminem Mathers himself will be returning to the Australian shores once again.
With the recent announcement of his next studio album the Marshall Mathers LP 2 at this years MTV Video Music Awards, Australian fans won’t have to wait long witness new Eminem material live in concert. Dates have yet to be confirmed, but Shady has expected to be playing shows in February and March of 2014. Melbourne’s Docklands Stadium is amongst the soon to be announced venues.
The Grammy-award winning rapper previously graced Australian stages in 2011 with Lil Wayne, Royce Da 5’9 and The Hilltop Hoods, with almost-immediate sold-out shows. But success is always fore fronted with struggle, Shady was warned by authorities to “behave” after the Detroit MC had troubles with a tour in 2001, and after some delays with the 2011 announcement he was finally allowed in to the country. This time around we’re hoping it’s a fairly straight forward process and the February/March prediction is a solid time frame to be locked in.
What’s also interesting is that Soundwave Festival was “invited to get involved” in negotiations, and promoter AJ Maddah had previously said he would be open to more aggressive forms of rap and hip-hop after including Cypress Hill on the 2013 lineup. But it seems Eminem was turned down after it became clear that he would prefer to do solo shows instead.
Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be released on November 5, 2013 and features production from Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin.
