It’s was a sad day for hip hop and music fans as Lil Wayne remained in critical condition after suffering several drug-related seizures. At 5.16 pm US PT, TMZ was reporting that the 30-year-old was being prepared to be given his last rites as his family surrounds him saying their goodbyes.
However, as of 6.30 pm representatives from the hospital were saying Wayne was starting to stabilise and Young Money affiliates and Wayne himself confirmed by Twitter that he was stabilised and recovering. Wayne’s mother is apparently flying to Los Angeles, according to TMZ.
He was originally rushed to ICU at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in LA on Tuesday night after suffering multiple seizures. He was released the following day, however hours later one of his bodyguards found him in his room, on the floor unconscious, after going on a sizzurp (codeine) binge. Doctor’s apparently pumped his stomach three times.
After being rushed to hospital again, his condition was not stabilised. He was placed in restraints because he was shaking uncontrollably and was said to be breathing through tubes. Several fellow hip hop artists and family members apparently went to visit.
Born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., Weezy made his music debut in 1991 at the age of 9 and went to release a string of platinum albums both collectively and individually. In recent years he has made leaps and bounds as a lyricist and was respected among many of his superstar peers.
