Apparently this Nicki Minaj lady isn’t just a reality show star who threatens to shoot her co-stars. She also record music and happens to be nominated for four trophies at the upcoming American Music Awards.
The Barbie doll inspired rapper leads the pack in nominations alongside pop diva Rihanna, who may or may not be dating Chris Brown again. Nicki will battle it out with fellow Young Money stablemates Drake and porn director Tyga in the category of Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist.
When Minaj emerged earlier this year with her electro-pop single Starships she was questioned by rap fans, however her move into the pop world has appeared to pay off. She is competing with pop/rock queens Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson for Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock. Meanwhile her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is up for Favorite Album Pop/Rock and Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop, where she is pitted against J. Cole and Drake.
Here’s hoping sparks don’t fly if Mariah Carey is there. The last thing we need is a repeat of the BET Awards brawl with women.
