Always known as one of the most larger-than-life and colourful artists in hip hop, Ghostface Killah is teaming with Black Dynamite composer Adrian Younge for the new collaborative album Twelve Reasons to Die.
Dropping on April 16, the album appears to take a cinematic approach, like much of Wu-Tang Clan’s past work. Executive produced by the RZA, the album will apparently be a mixture of “classic 36 Chambers-era RZA with Portishead, and the Italian film music of Ennio Morricone.”
Twelve Reasons to Die will be available as a standard CD and a deluxe double-CD with instrumentals and a mini comic book, as well as vinyl and cassette versions. Black Mask Studios will produce a six-issue comic book series, along with a graphic novel.
In support of the album, Ghostface and Younge will be performing with a live band at Venice Dawn on March 14, as part of SXSW, along with a handful of other dates until June.
The first single, The Rise of the Ghostface Killah, is available for streaming here.
