Taking place at The Metro Theatre on November 24th, TYCHO (USA), BATHS (USA), PREFUSE73 (USA) and SYNKRO (UK) go head to head for one very special evening of musical exploration…
Representing some of the world’s most exciting music labels, Land of the Giants reflects an emerging sub-culture embracing
musical cross-pollination. The Ghostly International signed Tycho examines the subtle shades of tone colour hidden within a dense haze of synthesiser and drum machine, shedding light on a variety of timbres and inflections with the help of a full band. Next up comes the playful eclecticism of Baths (Anticon) who fills in the links between beat centric hip hop and glitchy maximalism, with each track crafted with loving care in the bedroom. Joining the line up is the Warp-signed Prefuse73, one of Scott Herren’s many aliases; his music has a complex go-anywhere attitude, offsetting Western and exotic acoustic instruments with breaths of electronic static and claustrophobic production. Finally SYNKRO (under R&S offshoot Apollo) provides a peculiarly graceful take on atmospheric beats, taking the time honoured tropes of re-tuned vocals, intimate percussion and pumping synthesiser waves to stimulating new places.Such a broad combination of internationally respected artists makes for a truly broad musical experience.
