Seven years have past since Akon dropped an album, but fans will be happy to know that he’s back in the lab and working on a project entitled Stadium.
It will be five-part concept album that we will see later in 2015. He made the announcement a few weeks back via Twitter, writing: “Thru out this long wait, there has been fans who stuck with me. This Album is for you! 5 Albums 5 genres equaling STADIUM.”
Each part of the album will be rooted from a different musical genre. His website is currently streaming one single from each disc: the dance-ready Better featuring Niko the Kid from Stadium: Euro; the ballad To Each His Own from Stadium: Pop; the hip hop influenced Whole Lot from Stadium: Urban; the dubby love ode Just a Man featuring Stephen Marley from Stadium: Island;and the heavily percussive Feeling a Nikka featuring D’Banje from Stadium: World.
Despite the hiatus from his solo work, he had an active year of cameos in 2014, appearing on tracks by Jeezy, Chris Brown and Wizkid.
