Frank Ocean has cancelled his Australian tour after one Melbourne performance due to illness.
It now means Splendour in the Grass will have to find a new headline act for Sunday night.
Information provided by the band’s Australian tour promoter, Live Nation, stated that Frank incurred a small tear to one of his vocal chords at the show last night. The medical advice he received was that if he continued to sing, permanent damage could occur.
The OF artist performed a sold out show at Festival Hall in Melbourne last night, telling the audience he had a cold.
He was due to perform a second show at the venue tonight however his management have confirmed he will not only not play Festival Hall, but none of his remaining Australian shows.
They included two sideshows in Sydney next week as well as the Byron Bay festival.
“We are totally gutted that Frank can’t make it and we know that many of our patrons will be just as disappointed as we are. We do want to remind everyone that over 70 of the best acts in the world right now are still here and ready to go including our previously billed mystery band, ALT-J. Our sympathies go to Frank for his illness and also because he’s about to miss the best party of the year” said Paul Piticco and Jessica Ducrou.
Punters at the Festival Hall show said that Ocean did not interact with the audience and performed no encore.
Get well soon Frank! We’ll be thinking ’bout you.
