# Nas Launches Crowd-Funding Plan To Help Homeless Family

**Nas** has taken action after hearing of a Washington DC family who [lost their home](http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/08/young-family-seeks-home-after-fire-92390.html) and decided to step in to help their situation.

**Stanley Young**, an unemployed construction worker in the US capital, lost his apartment above a grocery store after a fire. Young and his family are currently living in a hotel. So, in support, the hip hop legend has launched a crowd-funding campaign on [CrowdTilt.com](https://www.crowdtilt.com/campaigns/help-the-young-family), where he’s urging his fanbase and peers to chip in to help.

“I was moved by the sad story of Stanley Young – father of seven, now homeless. Help me give his family a miracle,” Nas tweeted ([@Nas](http://twitter.com/Nas)) Thursday (August 8), along with a link to the crowd-funding website.

Nas has set a target of $50,000 for the family, and as of press time, has racked up over $28,000… with himself as the first contributor with a donation of $5,000.
