One of the architects of hip hop and electronic music, the iconic Afrika Bambaataa is getting ready to beam down to Australia to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of his legendary anthem Planet Rock. The musical visionary and DJ extraordinaire will be giving Aussies a taste of what a New York City block party is all about this May.
Named by Life Magazine as one of the most important Americans of the 20th Century, he laid the groundwork for a whole generation of artists to come and remains active through recording, touring and educating around the world.
Bam was recently appointment as a visiting scholar at Cornell University where he speaks to classes, meets with students, community groups and performs the music he helped create and expand.
