One year in music can feel like a lifetime, especially in an era when there are seemingly more artists releasing new music than ever before. With so many new albums it’s easy to forget what came out when and many great albums get forgotten, simply because they are from lesser known artists or came out in the first half of the year.
It was as if many artists in 2012 were preparing for the (unfulfilled) apocalypse and were trying to go out with a bang, with some of the finest albums in recent memory dropping. With that in mind, I’ve gone through the playlists and album collections at Stash HQ, and conducted some scientific research, to present the ultimate playlist of the year that was 2012.
